Have you heard of a college which teaches mainly rural women to become solar engineers? Welcome to Barefoot College! Located in a village called Tilonia in Rajasthan. Barefoot College is a voluntary organization working in the fields of education, skill development, health, drinking water, women empowerment and electrification through solar power.

Know more about the Barefoot College from its founder, Bunker Roy by listening to his TED talk. It is a fascinating story of a social worker, who started with a mission of digging wells for five years, after completing his education from elite institutes viz. the Doon School and St. Stephen’s College, Delhi.
